There is value for sure but still not worth the price you pay for it. Overalll, we're happy with the tool, it does its job really well and sometimes you think how you could live without it. Having one tool instead of several definetely a plus. I'd give it 5 stars if it was at least $100 less. otherwise, i recommend to buy it.
I am a contractor, wood worker for 18 years. I have used most of the tools as other contractor wood knows. This tool is a toy but a good one.It can do some cut that other tools can't but the price of the tool itself and cost to keep up with this tool by buying replacement blade is outrageous.Blade can good only for cutting on soft wood and use in a short period of time,It went out really fast when you cut on hardwood.I have to save my pocket by cutting only to small and difficult area when is necessarily that other power tool can not reach.(this is not like on TV advertising that you can use to cut on anything.).So for the cost of what it can do I will give 3 star for this tool only.
I mean $400 is a lot of money for me, but a good tool is very hard to value-- especially when you have an odd job to do that's time-consuming, tiring, and frustrating as well. The more I use it, the more I can envision more uses for it. Apparently, on-line, there are other-brand accessories available to fit the MultiMaster which are less expensive, but I cannot yet comment on their quality. I read a lot of other commentary before buying this tool, because (1) it's expensive, and (2)it's an odd tool. This is an odd tool--nothing like it, but now lots of imitators. It IS a high-quality tool. I was impressed and decided to keep it. Wow.
Otherwise, if you're heavy-handed and impatient, you could have problems like wearing out the sanding pad edges, etc. The demonstrations on TV and website are reasonably accurate in showing its uses. I recently bought the Multimaster top model, and started experimenting with it. One specific comment I have is that you must learn the tool and it's idiosyncrasies. The sort of job you wish you'd never started--or had to do. This tool will not do everything, but it will do some jobs so slick, so easy, so quick. this is not a sledge hammer type of tool. If you value a good tool and learn to use it, the Fein MultiMaster will become invaluable in many odd-job situations.
The build quality of the Fein accessories is excellent, but I like competition. I have been unable to find after-market parts to fit the Fein multimaster.
It clearly does jobs no other type of tool does. The build quality of the tool is excellent.
This tool is still new, but so far works well. It is easy to mount it correctly.
I did not seat a triangular sanding pad right, and it chewed up the sanding pad mount. This was my fault.
I will keep looking. These accessories will remain overpriced until there is after market competition.
Don't waste your time or money on any knockoffs, buy the Fein Multimaster. I was tired of wasting my time so I purchased the Multimaster 250 basic and added my own accessories.
BIG MISTAKE. The Bosch tool can barely cut thru a 2 x 4 w/ one battery.
I purchased the Bosch 12V Max Multi-X(tm) ps50 as soon as Feins patton expired thinking I just saved over $200 bucks. In fact I own a lot of Bosch tools (corded).
The battery life w/ the Bosch tool is very lame, unless you have more than 2 batteries you might as well double the time it's going to take to finish the job. Don't get me wrong Bosch is a great tool company.
I sure am glad I did. You'll be glad you did.
